Description	The Town Clerk was the main administrative officer for the Borough, and all business was passed through his office, at least to the early 20th century, at which point more modern departments were created. Therefore much business, that might otherwise be classed under different headings, can still be found among the Clerk's papers. Town Clerks (partial list): Lewis Dickenson to 1733 Richard Drakeford 1734-1762 William Brookes from 1763. Francis Brookes to 1836 Charles Flint 1836-c.1857 Robert William Hand, 1858-1873 Thomas Lawrence Brough, c.1873-1875 Matthew Folliott Blakiston from 1875.
