Description	The County and Borough operated separate courts until 1973. The County division will have covered the rural area of East Staffordshire outside Burton Borough. For later records see Records of Burton on Trent Magistrates Court (D135/1-2). The catalogue for earlier records from 1871 onwards (BD17/C) includes adult court registers 1880-1965; juvenile court register 1934-1964; licensing records 1888-1962; adoption register 1929-1950; minutes 1871-1896, 1949-1956.
Access Conditions	Adult court registers remain closed to the public under the Freedom of Information Act, 2000, for 30 years from the date of creation. Absolute Exemption (Court Records) under Section 32 (Freedom of Information Act, 2000) Juvenile court registers remain closed to the public under the Freedom of Information Act, 2000, for 30 years from the date of creation. Absolute Exemption (Court records) under section 32 (Freedom of Information Act, 2000) In addition, for registers over 30 years old, an Absolute Exemption under Section 40 (Personal Information) will apply during the lifetime of the individual concerned.
