DescriptionStaffordshire Orthopaedic Hospital was established at Biddulph Grange in 1928 by Lancashire County Council, later taken over by the Stoke on Trent Hospitals Board. Prior to this Biddulph Grange had been used as a hospital by the 'North Staffordshire Cripples Aid Society', for which there is an admission register, 1923-1925. However, by 1925 the Society could no longer maintain the hospital and it was eventually sold to Lancashire County Council. The first admission register for Lancashire patients begins in 1928.
