| Description | For certain years since 1879, bundles of fee-books, correspondence, articles of enquiry and churchwardens' presentments (usually formal) and protestations have survived. Each bundle relates to one visitation. There are also a number of lists of non-residence licences, from 1824, to be read at visitation; and of churchwardens not appearing (Salop only), 1840.
There are in addition: articles of enquiry and answers, visitation acts, citations and libri cleri relating to bishops' visitations of the Dean and Chapter, the Vicars Choral, and the diocese, 1636-1768 (Ex D and C B/V/3). These documents, found scattered throughout the material found on the shelves of the Cathedral Library, relate to Bishops' Visitations of the Dean and Chapter, the Vicars Choral and the Diocese. They include Visitation Acts, Articles of Enquiry and Answers to these, memoranda of expenses and correspondence. The articles for Visitation of Ely Cathedral in 1730 were presumably used as a model. The lists of clergy and patrons, schoolmasters and hospitals, are related to the Diocese Books (B/V/10).
