Note: Also called Swinford Regis. Four original registers in Dudley Archives and Local History Service. 13 Sep 1744, Morris altered to Boarns in original parish register. St. Mary anciently was the parish church of Kingswinford. The parish registers of Kingswinford, St. Mary, commence in 1603, but Wordsley, Holy Trinity, became the parish church in 1832. The registers continued as those of the parish of Wordsley. Kingswinford, St. Mary, became a chapel of ease for Wordsley and commenced new registers in 1832. The early parish register commencing in 1603 is therefore usually shown as that of Wordsley, Holy Trinity, although it is in fact the register of St. Mary from 1603-1831. The registers of St. Mary are shown as commencing in 1832. The original registers of Wordsley, Holy Trinity, for the period 1603-1945 (baptisms); 1603-1958 (marriages); and 1603-1927 (burials), are deposited at Dudley Archives & Local History Service. The original registers of Kingswinford, St. Mary, for the period 1832-1914 (baptisms); 1837-1910 (marriages); and 1832-1944 (burials), are deposited at Dudley Archives and Local History Service. Bishop’s transcripts 1666-1857 for St. Mary (with gaps 1693-1697, 1709-1713 and 1841-1844) are deposited at Staffordshire Record Office. Bishop’s transcripts, 1832-1854 for Holy Trinity are deposited at Staffordshire Record Office.
