| Administrative History | The Pot Lid Circle was active from 1965 to December 2016, starting with 60 members with a shared interest in collecting Victorian ceramic pot lids. The idea of collecting pot lids started in 1897, three years after Felix Pratt's death, when an exhibition of his work was held in Blackpool. Stand-alone auctions of Prattware pot lids began in 1924 and by the mid-1960s, the hobby reached its height with the formation of the Pot Lid Circle. Members contributed to research taking place, with the newsletters containing much of the research that led to the publication of 'The Price Guide to Pot Lids and Other Underglaze Multicolour Prints on Ware' by Abe Ball and the later reference work 'Pot-Lids & Other Coloured Printed Staffordshire Wares Reference and Price Guide' by Keith Mortimer. Each year members went on a trip to a place of significance to pot lids. For the last 10 years it was more of a social club with less focus on research.
