DescriptionPostans & Co Ltd was established in 1829 in Lionel Street, Birmingham, as a manufacturer of varnishes, japans and colours. In 1909 the firm was acquired by Morley Bros Ltd and the name was changed to Postans & Morley Bros Ltd. In 1927 George Birtles acquired a shareholding in the company and the name was changed to Postans, Morley Bros & Birtles Ltd. The shorter name of Postans Ltd was adopted in 1946. The firm was owned by the Morley family until its acquisition by Evode Holdings plc on 12 November 1981. It was acquired by Evode for its specialist knowledge of powder coatings. It acquired Syntha Pulvin (UK) Ltd as a subsidiary in 1983. This company produced powder coatings for the architectural market. Postans Ltd was merged with D Worrall & Sons Ltd in 1991 to form Evode Powder Coatings Ltd which was part of the Industrial Coatings Division.
