Description | The records of Samuel Allsopp and Sons of Burton on Trent (ref B143), the majority of which date from the 1890s to the early 1900s, relate mainly to licensed premises in many parts of the UK, with Wales and the Potteries being particularly well represented. Much of this material consists of correspondence with local agents about the purchase of premises, including assessments of current and future trade in each locality. Other breweries featured in these records are the Black Lion Brewery and the Rock Brewery in Aberdare, the New Bedford Brewery in Plymouth and the Manchester Brewery Co Ltd, which owned a number of premises in the Black Country area of Staffordshire and Worcestershire. |
