TitleLegal case papers
DescriptionThe legal papers were among the most disorderly sections of the Paget archives. All semblance of original order and context has long since disappeared for the most part making cataloguing extremely difficult. A number of key cases stand out but it is very difficult to ascertain precisely which papers were produced in evidence at them. It is very likely that many of the items listed as single items should, in fact, be associated with one or other of the major cases.

For these reasons, the papers are listed in a simple basic chronological sequence with only the principal papers relating to the main cases grouped together.

The main archive of the 16th century legal papers was deposited many years ago as D(W)1734/1/3 and the few papers of that period in this collection are very much strays from that main series.
