| Description | The papers formed part of the personal estate of Mr. N.E.S. Norris, of Brighton, Sussex, bequeathed to the National Trust.
The bulk of the papers were purchased by him at auction at Sotheby's in 1945 or 1955. Other items were sold or given to him by various members of the Bagot family.
The bundles into which the papers are divided may be original, or they may have been created by Mr. Norris. Where possible documents have been arranged in chronological order within bundles.
Many of the bundles also contain notes made about the contents, correspondents, etc. by Mr. Norris. |
