TitleBusiness papers of the Sulyard family
Date1391-1801
DescriptionThese papers mainly relate to the business of Edward Sulyard (d 1788) as attorney. Edward Sulyard appears to have practiced at Stowmarket in the 1730s and 1740s before he inherited Haughley Park in 1745 and may have qualified as a lawyer in around 1736. However his papers include many earlier documents that may have been part of an earlier family legal business, or simply represent the Sulyard family's legal proceedings. Several members of the family were admitted to the Inns of Court and his father, William, is described as an attorney in some documents.

The papers have been arranged largely chronologically.
