DescriptionThe records consist of deeds, mainly relating to the family's estates in Checkley and Cheadle in Staffordshire (the family owned Heybridge House, Checkley, as well as Heath House) but also a few relating to the family's property in Wimpole Street, London. There are also family settlements, estate correspondence and accounts and some documents relating to the family's estate at Newlands Valley in Gloucestershire. The personal papers contain correspondence, accounts and diaries dating from the 1820s.

Additionally, accession D7869 has not yet been catalogued. It contains mainly 19th-20th century personal material including letters, series of files, portraits and photographs and other memorabilia; rental of the estates of The Heath House Estate of John Capel Philips with detailed accounts for work by E Heaton & Sons, 1868-1898; ledger c.1822-1823, under varous headings (including J & N Philips, Tean Hall Mills); also historic landscape survey at The Heath House, 2002 (5 boxes, two volumes, outsize folder). A more detailed summary list has been copied into this catalogue.
