Arrangement	The list is arranged according to the type of document and then in chronological order. Documents of the same type and date are differentiated by the addition of letters. A.B.C.D. etc., Wills EMT 20 are arranged in alphabetical order of testator. A card index of the places and persons mentioned in the documents can be consulted at the Horace Barks Reference Library, Central Library, Bethesda St, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.

Description	As will be seen the documents in this collection relate mainly to property in the North Staffordshire area and mainly cover the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Many of the items relate to the Adams family of potters and there is some evidence that the collection was assembled by, or at least used by P.W.L. Adams when writing his History of the Adams Family of North Staffordshire 1914. After passing through several hands the documents came to the Horace Barks Reference Library.
