TitleRecords of Mitchell High School, Bucknall and predecessor institutions
Administrative HistoryHanley Higher Grade Board School was opened in 1894 as a mixed school for boys and girls. It became Hanley Secondary Day School in 1902 and Hanley Municipal Secondary School in 1904. In 1938, it became a boys only school when the girls were moved to Thistley Hough High School for Girls. In 1940, because of mining subsidence, the school was moved and became a bi-lateral school from 1948-53 with Chell Secondary Modern School. It moved to the outskirts of Stoke on the A52 in Bucknall in 1953. The school ceased to be called Hanley High School in 1970, with the Mitchell High School officially opening in 1990 with the closing of Willfield High School. The Mitchell High School closed in 2011.

The collection also includes the records of Carmountside High School in Abbey Hulton and Bucknall County Secondary School.
